Is it safe to use a water trigger sprayer to spray chemicals?

2025.05.27

Chemical properties determine the premise of use
There are many types of chemicals, from mild detergents to irritating disinfectants to highly corrosive pesticides or herbicides, and the physical and chemical properties of each liquid are different. Some chemicals are volatile and may form irritating gases; some liquids are corrosive and can damage the parts of the sprayer. As a conductive medium, the water trigger sprayer must have the corresponding material resistance to complete the spraying task on a safe basis.
When choosing a sprayer, it is crucial to understand the properties of the chemicals used. If the chemical liquid reacts easily with plastics, it is recommended to use non-corrosive materials, such as nozzles and valve bodies made of certain metals or modified plastics. This can not only extend the service life of the sprayer, but also reduce the potential risk of liquid leakage or nozzle clogging during use.

Correct use reduces risks
When spraying chemicals, the user should pay most attention to the standardization of the operating procedures. Wearing protective equipment, such as gloves, masks, goggles, etc., can effectively block direct contact or inhalation of chemical liquids to the human body. When using a water trigger sprayer for spraying, make sure that the spray direction is away from the face and that it is done in a well-ventilated environment as much as possible to reduce the concentration of residues in the air.
Before use, make sure that the various parts of the sprayer are tightly connected to prevent leakage during the pressurization process. If the nozzle of some chemicals is loose under high pressure, it may directly splash onto the skin or eyes, causing discomfort. Therefore, it is particularly important to keep the equipment in good condition and regularly check the nozzle, seal ring and storage bottle.

Cleaning and storage are equally important
After spraying, if the residues of different types of chemicals are not cleaned up, it is easy to affect the next use, and even clog the nozzle due to the aging of the residual liquid. It is recommended that after use, rinse the inside of the sprayer with clean water, then dry it and store it in a cool and ventilated place. Especially when changing different types of chemical liquids, it must be thoroughly cleaned to avoid chemical reactions caused by mixing different substances, which may lead to safety hazards.
Some users will place the sprayer in direct sunlight or high temperature for a long time, which may accelerate the aging of plastic parts and change the spray performance. Therefore, proper storage of equipment is also an important part of safe use.
